First of all. WTF !!! You’ll understand as you read on.
It seems the most dangerous position in Pakistan may NOT be that of Coaching the National Cricket Team. During a recent KITE FLYING FESTIVAL , an annual event in LAHORE, PAKISTAN the death toll, yes, DEATH TOLL rose as the days went by.
- 2 DEAD: Throats slit by metal kite strings.
- 5 DEAD: Killed by stray bullets from traditional celebratory gunfire into the air.
- 2 DEAD: Electrocuted trying to untangle kite strings from powerlines.
- 2 DEAD: Falling from roofs attempting to retrieve kites.
- 300 INJURED: Taken to four city hospitals for an assortment of kite-related injuries.
- 220 ARRESTED: For use of illegal sharpened kite strings, designed to cut the strings of fellow kite flyers. (refer to the first two casualties above)
Normally I will always link stories back to at least one original source. In this case however I’m just going with this THIS LINK to Google search results where you can see for yourself the LARGE disparity in the figures reported around this one event by the worlds media.

These figures above are the stats I’m going with are for the purposes of this post. To illustrate the general gist of the story - kite flying on the sub-continent is a dangerous past time. I’ve tried to average out the numbers for you here. Some places say 13 dead, some say 9, some say 11. Some say 700 arrested, some say 120. You be the judge
UPDATE: Found this VIDEO of the event also…
Sure…. it’s all fun-and-games until someone loses their HEAD…
