Stormy Sunday Afternoon Surfing

This is some video taken with the WD digicam on a stormy and freezing cold Sunday afternoon at Pt Leo. Air temperature was a chilly nine degrees C with a biting wind of 25-30km/h coming in from due south made it even colder. The water was actually the warmest place to be.

Indeed there were some brave surfing souls who ventured out to catch the waves and feel the invigoration of the icy winter weather. Did I mention it was also showering with rain on and off. Talk about COLD   Here is a MAP of the locations.

VOTD: Tornado May 4th 2007 Ellis County

Wow… not bad. Guy is yelling a bit too much.
But I guess I probably would too if I was there taking that video.

My favourite part is at about 1m 30s when he pans up and shows the whole thing.  Granted, it’s not one of those giant big "black" tornadoes that rips buildings apart and flips cars across the road. But spectacular none the less.

This was taken on the same day when a giant
F5 tornado levelled the town of Greensburg in Kansas.

Spectacular Alaskan Aurora

The good folk over at NASA’s always interesting APoD have a real visual gem today. This photo of an AURORA taken near BEAR LAKE by US Airforce Senior Airman Joshua Strang in 2005 while stationed in ALASKA is visually stunning.
