OK… so you
will go "
WHOLLY COW….!!!" within the first minute of this video. It’s impossible not to. We’ve brought you helicopter articles
before here on WD, but nothing will prepare you for THIS. You KNOW this RC helicopter is super hard-core when you hear it start up. It sounds like a real one the way the engine whines to life. But the instant it takes to the air, any and all shreds of reality go flying out the window. I don’t have any details about the specs or the type or any of that techno guff. I just know that if ANY real helicopter I’m in EVER does ANYTHING resembling the things the RC one in this video does, then I’m asking for a refund.
As awesomely spectacular as the RC helicopter itself is, you have to hand it to the "pilot" driving the thing. AMAZING skills I think best describes the way he manoeuvres the craft about. If you think I’m building this up too much… just watch and judge for yourself.

Guess the pilot could not make up his mind
whether to land on the water… or the beach.
Why not try BOTH…

Or does it ?

Watch the video and decide for yourself if this is some new form of Soviet levitation aviation, or merely a clever effect created by syncing the FPS rate of the camera to the rotational speed of the helicopters blades.
Either way, it looks cool…

The story goes that this guy (the pilot) had just purchased this new helicopter, using a portion of cash far larger than his brain. And he has also just recently gotten his pilots license to fly helicopters. (possibly from a cornflakes packet)
The story also goes that they urged the guy NOT to pilot his new toy home. But he insisted and as the saying goes, the rest is…

It may be April 1st but there’s no fooling when I say this one is worth the time for two reasons… #1 Your Sunday
MOTD is from Aussie band
POWDERFINGER with the soulful lyrics and vocals of frontman
BERNARD FANNING and his song
THESE DAYS, originally written for the soundtrack of the 1999 movie
TWO HANDS. A studio version of the track was never released on a Powderfinger album. Appearing instead only on the official Two Hands sound-track album. Was later featured on the bands 2004 live album release
THESE DAYS: Live In Concert.
Worth noting just how
CLOSE they get to powerlines, trees, fences and other things that will quickly ruin your day at the office, if that office happens to be the cockpit of an
AT-802 AIRTRACTOR with a cruising speed of 314km/h

In keeping with the aviation theme further down the page, today’s VOTD shows the structural testing phase of the wings on a Boeing 777 passenger aircraft.  There’s something mildly disturbing about a bunch of aircraft engineers standing around and cheering and clapping when the wings of an aircraft explosively fail during load testing.  I just hope I never have to see the wings on any plane that I am on go beyond about 90% of rated load. Let alone 154 % !!! Makes an ALMIGHTY bang when it finally goes.
