April Autumn Arvo Beach Photos

While everyone else has been enjoying substantial rainfalls over the last few days, it’s been dry, mild and fine here at WD. So what better to do than load up the iPod and hit the beach for a big sunny afternoon walk. And why not take some fancy phone-cam photo’s along the way I thought.

Folding Chair Meets Modern Design School

It’s called FlexibleLoveâ„¢ experimental furniture and was conceived as a way to seat between 1-16 people cheaply and quickly.  Made from 100% recycled wood and paper materials to keep it low cost, and using pre-existing manufacturing techniques to keep it simple.

Personally I would prefer to see some "real life" testing with normal people in real world sitting and lounging-around situations before getting too excited about all this.  They seem to spend a lot of time whizzing about and reconfiguring the seat, and very little time actually having people SIT on the thing.  Interesting concept none the less…

Possibly what amazes me most about this is that
the domain www.flexiblelove.com was still available.

CityLink can look at this video and breath easy.
Design fault… or just REALLY bad driving ?

GAMES: Island Mini Golf

ISLAND MINI GOLF is the name of this game. One of the better web based mini golf games going around. From what I can gather the site where the games is hosted, relates to some sort of reality TV show with a Gilligans Island theme. But none of that is important to us.

Up to four people can play. The game is really simple. You select a place to tee-off, pull back your putter and hit the ball. It’s that easy. I can tell you that it is possible to get a score of under 30 strokes in this game but it takes some practice and you need to score at least seven hole-in-ones along the way.

Now I have a few suggestions you might find handy.  First is to turn the sound off.  It’s really annoying.  Just click the in-game icon and it’s gone. Ahhhh, that’s better. Why not pick something from our very own WD MOTD archives instead.

As of the time this was posted, there is a really creepy ad down the bottom of the page.  If you are using Firefox with the AdBlock Plus extension, then you can easily remove the offending image as I did with a simple Right-Click –> AdBlock Image. If you’re using another browser such as Internet Explorer, then you should Consider Firefox, or deal with it in your own way as best you can. Possibly by scrolling the browser window down far enough so it falls off the bottom.. so to speak.

MOTD: Hurry Don’t Be Late…

From the song REMINISCING by the masters of harmony LITTLE RIVER BAND today’s MOTD features what must surely be one of the great opening lines to any song…

"Friday night it was late.. I was walking you home.. we got down to the gate.. I was dreaming of the night"

A single breath, rapid fire lyrical delight that nicely set’s up the the rhyme for the short sharp second line of the song "Would it turn out right".  Now everyone is familiar with the album version of this song that’s bound to be on high rotation down at the local Gold-FM radio station. First recorded in 1978 with the band’s original vocalist GLENN SHORROCK, the song reached #3 in the Australian Top 40 and made it to #5 over in the USA, the first of six consecutive Top 10 US Singles for LRB.

In 1982, Glenn Shorrock left the band to pursue a solo career. His replacement was a young looking JOHN FARNHAM who fronted LRB from 1982-1984 until leaving himself to continue his successful late 80’s "You’re The Voice" fuelled solo career. The version of REMINISCING we present for you as today’s MOTD is a 1983 live performance by LRB with Farnham manning the mic.

With LIVE vocal harmonies the equal of any studio recoding from The Beach Boys or Bee Gees, we see on display the talent of the LRB performers and especially Mr Farnham.  I reckon even Glenn Shorrock, who wrote and performed the album version would be envious at vocal talent, and on stage presence that "Farnsie" brings to this performance.  Think of this version next time you hear the original on the radio. And enjoy today’s MOTD.
